Towards the end of last year, I started reading again after many years without a book in my hand. I quickly realised what I’ve been missing and my Kindle and I have become inseparable! Reading, whether fact or fiction, broadens the mind, introduces the reader to new concepts and new perspectives. Reading is a wonderful form of escapism from which one can always learn something new, if only a new word to add to one’s vocabulary, though of course, a good book provides much more than that.
This section will be a showcase for the books I enjoy reading. Let’s see how many I can add by the end of 2012….
The Quantum Universe: Everything that can happen does happen
- Brian Cox & Jeff Forshaw
This is the book I am currently reading and I’m finding it fascinating so far…
Perfect People – Peter James
This thriller about genetically designed children had me hooked from the first page. With short chapters and an easy-to-read style, it´s a book you can zoom through, whilst the twists and turns of the story keep you guessing until the very end.
The Millennium Trilogy – Stieg Larsson
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo / The Girl who Played with Fire / The Girl who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest
This trilogy of novels quickly achieved a cult status, and it is well-deserved. The first book seems a little hard-going at first, but once you´re in you don´t stop for breath until you have completed the set. Intriguing, captivating, and sometimes shocking, these are the books that started me reading again.
